Dance photography from real performances is heavily copyrighted, and Ballet Modern has no affiliation with any of the choreographers or companies profiled on this site, so we don't use production photos from their seasons. Instead, every photograph on this site is illustrative stock imagery, sourced from free-to-use libraries — Unsplash, Pexels, and Pixabay — under each platform's free license, which permits commercial use without a per-image attribution requirement. We credit all three platforms here as a general source note covering the photography across the site.

What the Photos Show

Because none of our imagery comes from an actual staging of the works, companies, or choreographers discussed on a given page, every hero and card image on a profile page is labeled "illustrative image" in its caption and alt text, making clear it is not a photograph of the real production, dancer, or company.
