New York City Ballet has announced its full 2026-27 season, opening September 22, 2026 with George Balanchine's Jewels and running across five world premieres in total. Beyond the Jennifer Archibald and Alysa Pires premieres already set for the October 1 Fall Fashion Gala, the season adds new work from Pam Tanowitz — a "pièce d'occasion" created for a one-time-only farewell performance honoring principal dancer Adrian Danchig-Waring on October 18, after more than two decades with the company — and, in spring 2027, new commissions from resident choreographer Justin Peck for the May 6 Spring Gala and from Tiler Peck, marking her third work for NYCB, on May 8.
The season also brings a company premiere rather than a world premiere: Alexei Ratmansky's Romeo and Juliet, running January 19–31, 2027, restaged for NYCB using Richard Hudson's original scenery and costume designs with new lighting by Mark Stanley — the first time this particular Ratmansky staging has entered the company's own repertory.
